And this time, I mean it.
Learning more about front-end frameworks, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, deployment frameworks and framework-managing frameworks, isn’t appealing to me and it never really was. For some reason, all dashboards for managing websites are so bad that whenever I look at them, my eyes glaze over and I start wondering if I should have become a scientist. This conflicted with my wanting to improve my lovingly made and artisanal (amateurish and clunky) website. So, I needed to make some senior dev decisions.
Questions
- How do I make creating content mega easy?
- How do I make deploying it mega easy?
Answers:
- By making it a static site. Hugo is a big framework with tens of thousands of stars on GitHub. LGTM π.
- By going onto Cloudflare and clicking the “use GitHub” buttons.
With that stuff sorted out and one prompt later, I had what I wanted, a super easy to use website that looks nice and is easy to add things to. It requires basically zero effort from me to maintain, and that is the key to good software engineering.
Perfect. All I need to do is write down whatever is on my mind now.
